Using this Blog

We'll see how effective this is as a communication tool for this team. To me, it kinda provides a forum for a meetings without meetings. Each discussion thread can continue a discussion on a particular topic among us all, whenever it's convenient for each of us. It doesn't replace the need to meet "live" every couple weeks as we discussed, but in the mean time we can continue to share ideas and document thoughts before they evaporate.

I view each thread as just a very informal discussion. Don't worry about whether you sound like a genius or whether you made spelling errors, or anything. Just participate. The more participation we have the further we'll progress faster.

For those who haven't blogged before, all you need to do to participate is click on the message you want to read and if you want to post a response, just click on comments, type your message and publish.

If you have general questions about blogging, post them as comments under this message.

Actually, just to verify that everyone knows how, will you each post a comment (however long or short you want) under this message?

Congrats! You're now experienced bloggers! You can now say such dorky things as "So like, I blogged this post to THK Underground, where our whole, like, team is always bloggin' to document some way cool ideas."

The one thing that's a little bit of a bummer is that things can be a little hard to monitor in the blog, unless you look at every thread each time you log on. I'll investigate to see if there's a way that we can be notified each time there's a new post.

I have that functionality, but I was thinking it's only because I was the original poster.

I'll let you know what I find.

Worst case scenario might be that we decide this type of tool is good but rather than a blog we need a full fledged message board, but let me check into it.

I am excited that folks seem to find this useful.

Hey ~
I just want to say that I think this Blog thing is awesome!! Thanks Dave!! I think if there was some way to know what items you have already looked at versus scrolling through everything each time. Not sure if taht is what a mesage board does?? Hey~ Where's Cindy and Janine??? They are not hip to blogging yet I guess?!?!? I am so excited to see how God uses this team of 10!! I thank each of you for your passion for THK. I believe 2005 is going to be a roller coaster year!! Enjoy the ride!!

Well, unfortunately it doesn't look like the Blog will make it easy to see what you've read and what you haven't. As the Admin of the blog, I do get notified of new posts and if gives me a link directly to that post. If you like, I could forward those to the team each time I get it, but I'd want to make sure it wasn't going to annoy anyone. Let me know what you think.

Also, Janine, Cindy and Steph's invitations had all expired. I resent them so hopefully we'll see them soon.

BTW - a message board would be only a little different. It would put new messages on top rather than on bottom, it would show you what messages are new, and you could set it to alert you by email when there's a new post.
